The foam insulation shown above is an open cell foam,
commonly used in America and Canada. The foam used in
the UK is a closed cell foam and is much more rigid, the
reaction time is slightly longer, expanding a little less to
give a stronger, more thermally efficient result.
It is also worth noting that we do not as of yet cut
the foam as shown in the video above, instead choosing
to bring the foam thickness to within a few millimetres
of the inside surface of the timbers. I.e. if the timber
depth was 100mm, we would install a nominal thickness of
85-90mm to ensure that the foam expansion does not
exceed the timber depth.
